Day Trip to the Ancient City of Petra from Sharm El Sheikh

The Petra Tour from Sharm El Sheikh starts with a transfer from your hotel to Taba in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle that takes about three and a half hours. Upon arrival at Taba, you will be assisted onto a boat to Aqaba. Upon arrival in Aqaba, you will be received for assistance on a direct ride to Petra for a full-day comprehensive visit to the famous red rose rock city, the city of the Nabateans. This ancient city, often referred to as the lost city, is intricately carved into mountains. You will have the chance to take an optional horseback ride, from which you will see the Siq: a natural canyon which the Nabateans turned into one of their new main features of architecture. While walking the 1.2-kilometer length of the canyon, you will admire the exquisite carvings of statues, idols, and niches. Then you turn around, and there it is before your very eyes, the Treasury, a shock almost beyond description at its sudden appearance, a building dating back more than 2,000 years. The tour then walks down the Street of Facades to the Roman Theatre, the Royal Tombs, the Roman Colonnaded Street, and then Qasr al-Bent. Following lunch, you will head back to the Aqaba port for the cruise back to Taba, then drive back to your Sharm El Sheikh hotel.
