Your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan and take you to the banks of the Nile, where your motorboat will be waiting for you. Boarding it, you will cross the Nile to the cliff faces that lie just opposite Aswan, and a little further north of Kitchener's Island, you will reach the tombs via a staircase that has been cut into the side of the hill from the boat landing. The Nobles' tombs in Aswan are dated, principally, from the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms of ancient Egypt. Most have a simplified version of a standard structure, composed of an entrance hall with a pillared chamber and a corridor leading to the burial chamber. These are the tombs that are important for their vivid wall paintings of scenes in daily life and the activities of officials.

The inscriptions on these restored tombs include accounts of the nobility's African expeditions and hieroglyphic autobiographies. Above the Graves of the Nobles, crowning the hill, is a small shrine or tomb to a local sheikh and saint, called "Kubbet el-Hawa, " meaning "the dome of the wind." The climb offers spectacular views of Aswan, the Nile River, and the surrounding countryside. The tour will end with your transfer back to your hotel in Aswan or your Nile Cruise.
