Overview

Make the most of your 2-day adventure, kind of from Cairo to Abu Simbel and Aswan, by flight. It’s one of those best Cairo day tours that people actually recommend, and yeah it really does a lot. The trip brings together Egypt’s top highlights, like the Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk, and the impressive High Dam down in Aswan. Then in Abu Simbel, you get to admire those astonishing temples dedicated to Ramses II and Queen Nefertari, standing right by the shores of Lake Nasser. After that, wrap it up with a calm felucca ride on the Nile, where you can watch the ages-old charm of southern Egypt unfold slowly.Overall, this tour gives you a good mixture of heritage, ease, and genuine Egyptian atmosphere, so it works perfectly for Egypt day tours you’ll remember for a long time.

Itinerates

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Cairo in a private air-conditioned vehicle at around 04:00 a.m. and transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight to Aswan. The flight departs at 07:00 a.m. and arrives in Aswan at approximately 08:25 a.m.

Upon arrival, you will meet your private tour guide and begin your Aswan sightseeing tour, which includes visits to the High Dam, Philae Temple, and the Unfinished Obelisk, followed by a relaxing felucca sailing experience on the Nile.

Philae Temple

The Philae Temple was built in honor of the goddess Isis and is considered one of the last temples constructed in the classical Egyptian style. Its construction began around 690 BC, and it remained an important center of worship for centuries.

The High Dam

The Aswan High Dam is a major modern engineering achievement located on the northern border between Egypt and Sudan. Built across the River Nile, it created Lake Nasser, one of the world’s largest artificial lakes. Construction began in 1960 and was completed in 1968, with its official inauguration in 1971.

The Unfinished Obelisk

Aswan was the main source of ancient Egypt’s finest granite, used in temples, statues, pyramids, and obelisks. The Unfinished Obelisk, located in the Northern Quarries, offers insight into ancient stone-working techniques. Measuring about 42 meters in length and weighing around 1,168 tonnes, it would have been the largest obelisk ever completed if finished.

Optional Experiences in Aswan

Nubian Village Visit
The Nubian Village is one of Aswan’s most charming attractions. Spend around two hours exploring its colourful houses, artistic streets, and authentic local culture. Walking through the village gives you a true feel of Nubian life and hospitality.

Philae Temple Sound and Light Show
Experience a magical evening at the Philae Temple Sound and Light Show, where history comes alive through storytelling, music, and illumination. Discover the secrets and legends of the temple in a truly unforgettable atmosphere.

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Aswan at around 04:00 a.m. and travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle to Abu Simbel. The journey takes approximately three hours, allowing you to reach the temples before the heat of the day.

The Abu Simbel Temples were carved into the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II in the 13th century BC. Upon arrival, your Egyptologist guide will introduce you to one of the most powerful and fascinating rulers of ancient Egypt.

Marvel at the Great Temple of Ramesses II, where four colossal statues of the pharaoh sit majestically at the entrance. The temple was primarily dedicated to Amun-Re, Horakhty, and Ptah, but it was also built to honour Ramesses II himself and celebrate his legacy.

Continue to the nearby Small Temple, dedicated to Queen Nefertari, the beloved wife of Ramesses II. Admire the beautifully carved rock-cut façade that depicts the king and queen in remarkable detail.

After completing your visit, you will return to Aswan where lunch will be served.

At around 16:00, enjoy a relaxing felucca sailing trip around Elephantine Island, with a visit to Lord Kitchener’s Island, surrounded by the peaceful beauty of the Nile.

Later, you will travel back to Cairo and be transferred to your hotel for overnight stay
